What happened, folks?? Are we going to just let this poor old blog just peter off into meaningless nonexistance??????
If you don't want to do it anymore, just tell me and I'll put it out of its misery... :(

It's been awhile
Ok, so it's been quite awhile since I posted. That was one of my hesitations for having a blog. Oh well....
As Bekah has shown, we've done several hikes in our neighboring areas. Ya know those pictures from Arroyo Trabuco? Well, that was only one part of a much longer hike. Now, the book says the total hike is 12 miles round trip. Bekah and I decided we could do that. So, September 1st we parked at one end and left the vehicle at 7:20 am. I knew that half way through we'd be hungry, so I'd packed homemade granola for the hiking part and bean/cheese burritos for the 1/2 point. Both were greatly appreciated. We hiked the first 1/2 with overcast skies and a cool breeze. When we stopped for "lunch" (it was 9:30) the skies started clearing and things started warming up. Good thing I'd brought an extra bottle of water. That got us through. You see, while the book said it was 12 miles, my pedometer said it was 16. It took a total of 4 hours and 24 minutes, not counting the lunch break. Boy, were we tired puppies. (That's why we planned it on a holiday.) Bekah wound up with a blister on the side of her foot. I had blisters on the last two toes on both feet. And that from well worn hiking boots. That was definitely the longest hike I've ever been on - but you know what? I loved it! I have really started enjoying being out in God's creation and hiking.
Today we did the Tijeras Creek Trail again, just the B. girl, me, and Casey, our dog. Bekah is taking pictures of fences for a photography class she has and wanted a fence that was basically at the 1/2 way point of this hike. So, today logged another 4 miles. Nice hike.
I don't know if we told you, but one of the ways we're staying motivated for our hikes is by choosing a destination and then "hiking" there. We keep track of our mileage and trace the way to the destination. We just recently hiked to Oceanside Beach, which is approximately 50 miles. Now we get to go have a little celebration from the "healthy" menu at an El Pollo Loco. From Oceanside, we plan to hike to Tom's Farm in Corona, then probably up to the high desert (at least it'll be cooler there this way than in person). :) It's fun.
Ok, that's enough blabbing for now. Hope all is well with you and yours.

We’re Back!!!!
Hi everybody! We are back, and I figured I’d catch y’all up on what we’ve been doing. We have been hiking regularly… But not alone!! Mom and I usually hike together just the two of us, but lately we’ve been hiking with some friends in addition to our regular powerwalks.
Mom is doing well on her getting-in-shape drive, and I will let her tell you more about that whenever she gets the inclination to do so.
As for me, well, I have lost about 11-12 lbs. since near the beginning of the year, and I am feeling great. My clothes fit nicer, my stomach is flatter and my face looks thinner, and I am in much better shape. I want to lose another 2-3 lbs, and then just stay at that healthier weight for awhile. I’m having a hard time losing those few extra pounds, though. All you who have done the whole exercise/weight loss stuff know exactly what I’m talking about: you plateau at a certain level and stay there for awhile…and eventually maybe you can lose the rest too. :)
Well, below I have made three separate posts for photos from our past three weekly hikes, enjoy!!

Dana Point Hike – 07-29-08
Mom and Miss T at the beginning of the walk – it wasn’t exactly a difficult hike, just a nice walk that went along the edge of the cliff at Dana Point Harbor.

Mom and myself at the ‘Hide Drougher’ statue. If you want to know more about the history of the harbor and the statue, read more here

We saw several very pretty houses along various points in our walk.

This sign was not at all comforting. :)

We meandered past many of the ships in the harbor…

…including this reproduction of the brig "Pilgrim" on which Dana had sailed.

Tijeras Creek/Chiquita Ridge Hike – 08-14-08
The sign for the hike.

A group picture – minus the cameraman, yours truly. :)

Hiking up the trail – once again minus the cameraman.
Group picture collage…ahhh, there I am!! :)

We saw several lovely specimens of plant life – some very nice flowers…

…and a very strange crooked tree…

My beloved mother! :)

Yours truly! I actually managed to get a picture of moi. Or, I should say, I got my mom to take a picture of moi.

Miss Melonee and Miss T walking behind me…

Mom and Pastor Daniel (with Ariana) walking ahead of me…

Bloggie Break
Hi everybody --
Just letting you know that my mom, Kim, and I will be taking a bloggie break indefinitely. The blog will run as usual, and everyone else can post, but we will not be posting. For more information, check my personal blog Daddy's Girl on or after next Tuesday. God bless you all!
